What is Moving Kite?

Moving Kite offers a unique, hassle-free way to handle your move. We specialize in transporting boxes of personal belongings through FedEx, providing temporary storage, and ensuring safe delivery to your new location when you're ready. Our system is flexible, accommodating changes in your plans, and offers transparent, competitive pricing, making it easy and affordable to ship and store your belongings during a relocation.

How do I start with Moving Kite?

It's simple! Visit www.movingkite.com and follow these steps:
   1. Get a quote by specifying the number of boxes, and indicate whether you have a final destination. If you're unsure, you can add this later.
   2. We will calculate the service prices of multiple warehouses based on your moving needs. Then, you will need to choose one from the available options to store your items.
   3. After packing, create a shipping order and print the shipping labels we provide, attach them to your boxes, and either drop them off at a FedEx location or schedule a pick-up. We coordinate the safe transport to our warehouse.

When can you ship to new destination? And how to do that?

Once the package is in storage at the warehouse, you can update the receiving address and date on the order details page. If you need the package to be shipped out promptly, please pay attention to the inbound shipment email notifications.

How are the costs determined?

Our pricing structure is transparent and based on several components:
   - Pick-up fee: A $15 fee is charged for each pickup.
   - Shipping fees: Enjoy a 20% discount off standard FedEx rates for shipping to and from our warehouse. The initial shipping fee is based on a 50 lbs per box hold, adjusted upon actual box receipt based on weight and dimensions.
   - Storage fees: We charge a daily rate of $0.01 per pound. The fee is based on the greater of the actual weight or the volumetric weight (calculated as (Length x Width x Height) / 139, with dimensions in inches).

How is the storage fee calculated?

The storage fee is based on the greater of the actual weight or the volumetric weight of your items, using the formula: (Length x Width x Height) / 139 (all in inches), charged at $0.01 per pound per day.

How dose the billing settlement process work?

Send shipping

When creating the shipment order, we pre-charge the shipping fee based on 50 lbs for each package.

Storage

After the boxes are inbounded, we’ll recalculate the fee based on actual weight and dimensions, and adjust any difference to your credit card.

Subsequently, we will charge the storage fee to your credit card every 7 days.

Return shipping

Once you confirm the return date and address and create the return order, we charge the return shipping fee to your credit card.

Use durable, heavy-duty boxes, preferably from sources like Home Depot, Lowes, or Walmart. Secure all seams with strong tape, cushion items inside, and avoid overpacking. Keep boxes at a manageable weight, and label each clearly. Your items will be stored securely and we ensure they are handled with care throughout the transport and storage process.

How do I ship my belongings to Moving Kite?

You can print out FedEx shipping labels from our website after placing your order. You can then either drop off your boxes at a FedEx location or schedule a pickup from your home for an additional fee. This process ensures consistency and reliability in handling your belongings.

How can I track my shipment?

Once your belongings are shipped, you can track the shipment using the FedEx tracking number provided. You can access this information through your Moving Kite account on our website.

What happens if there's a payment issue during storage?

If a payment fails, a 7-day probation period begins. You'll receive reminder emails every day. If unresolved, unfortunately, we may dispose of your items and close your account, as detailed in our terms of service.

Why is the package size different from the original box size?

The dimensions shown in the system after the package is received are provided by FedEx and measured by their staff. If the package is overfilled or gets compressed or deformed during transit, the dimensions may change and differ from the original box size.

Learn about Package Dimension

I purchased multiple shipping labels, but I haven’t used all of them. Is that okay? Will I receive a refund for the unused ones?

Absolutely! Once your package is received at the warehouse, the system will adjust the billing based on the actual package details, and any overpaid amount will be refunded to your original payment method.
Please note that once the package has been checked in and the order charges have been adjusted, any unused shipping labels within the order will no longer be valid. If you wish to ship again, please create a new order.

After the package is returned, can I request delivery directly to my upstairs unit?

In the U.S., FedEx standard services typically only deliver to the front door or downstairs entrance of the recipient’s address and do not guarantee delivery inside the residence or directly to an apartment or unit door upstairs.

For residential addresses, packages are usually delivered to the front door, porch, or garage door. However, if there is a shared main entrance (such as in apartment buildings or gated communities), drivers may leave packages at the building’s front desk, reception, or mailroom instead of delivering directly to your unit door.

For commercial addresses, deliveries are usually made to the front desk, mailroom, or main entrance, and drivers do not bring packages directly to individual offices upstairs.

You can call FedEx to make this request, but it is up to the driver’s discretion and cannot be guaranteed.

How do I contact customer service?
